The Indians outclassed Litvinov

Pilsen hockey team made a reparation for the friday match against Liberec on Sunday. The Indians routed Benzina Litvinov 6:1 and delighted 6 000 people in the home crowd. The home team got Litvinov under the pressure in the first period. Goaltender Franek made 18 saves during the first period but only John Lammers beat him from the left wing. On the other hand, Dusan Salficky in the home goal did not make a save! "Our performance in the first period was really horrible," claimed Jiri Kucera, the assistant of the coach. Litvinov started the middle period more actively than the first, but did not score. In the middle of the game the Canadian back John Slaney increased the lead on the powerplay. Afterwards matador Tomas Vlasak was free to ice. Firstly he scored after veteran Vostrak´s attack and 39 seconds before the horn scored to an empty net after a quick combination. In the 43th minute hosting Martin Jenacek chalked up a face-saving goal. But the Indians controlled the bout. In the 54th minute Nickolas Johnson beat Franek again. And a few seconds before the end captain Straka drew a line under the match. Pilsen team deservedly defeated Litvinov and now will play in Vitkovice and the next round in Pardubice.

Pilsen mastered a breathtaking derby


8139 fans at CEZ Arena were watching an amazing battle between Pilsen and Karlovy Vary. The Indians defeated its rival after a breathtaking clash 6:5. A banner with the President Trophy was erected before the game. The Indians put the squeeze on the visiting team in the start of the game. After 37 seconds Jan Kovar beat goaltender Sablik firstly. But that was not all. In the third minute scored from a rebound and Pilsen led by two goals. Then Vary threaten home team with Kumstat´s shot to the post. And at the close of the first period the experienced Hruska cut the lead. After a fairytale beginning of the game the middle period was washout for the Indians. Petr Gregorek scored on the power play and drew level of the bout. But after a few seconds later American Johnson chalked up a go-ahead goal. But Petr Gregorek stunned the home team by other hit on the power play. All of a sudden Karlovy Vary dominated the ice and captain Skuhravy shot an unstoppable shot to beat Prikryl again. But Tomas Vlasak got the equalizer in the middle of the game. Karlovy Vary shocked the Indians and the home crowd in the same minute. After a fatal mistake of the home defense all alone Hruska got the visiting squad into the lead. Two minutes later Stransky blew the opportunity to tie the game. Afterwards Pilseners had bad luck twice. The visiting Hrebejk stopped the disc on the goal line and in a few moments Johnson hit the post. In the last period Hruska could complete his hattrick, but Prikryl made a stopp. The home crowd exploded in the 59th minute when Nickolas Johnson chalked up his second goal on the power play. And in the fantastic finish of the game captain Straka got the game winner on another power play. The Indians upset Vary in the breathtaking derby a won the season´s opener 6:5.

Pilsen still dominates the league after routing Usti nad Labem


7425 people in home crowd were watching the record-breaking Viktoria´s victory in the independent Czech league yesterday. Pilsen outmatched the novice team Usti nad Labem 7:0 in the 8th league round and still reigns the Czech league. Home team got the league outsider down by fast and combinative play. The league leader opened the score already after four minutes of the game. After Bakos´ assistance Daniel Kolar broke the deadlock. Afterwards the visiting squad had the only shooting chance but Janu missed the post. Then Viktoria dominated on the turf. Defender Zacharias commited a fault and all alone Marek Bakos increased the lead. In a few moments agile Bakos passed Petrzela and he beat the goalkeeper Novak again. At the close of the first half Valenta commited a foul in the penalty area and captain Horvath converted the penalty kick. That was not all by far. David Limbersky scored from an acute angle. In the 58th minute Kolar chalked up his second goal in the clash. The Pilsen exhibition ended by Navratil´s goal after a free kick. Then standing ovation were in Struncovy sady. "Pilsen team deservedly won. We have different ambitions than the home team," declared Habanec, the coach of Usti. "I am satisfied that too many people came to the stadium. I hope they will come again. We played a great game today," claimed Pavel Vrba, the coach of the league leader.

Vondrasek and Tomanova domineered over players U15


TK Slavia Pilsen staged a traditional "A" category tournament of players U15 under the name of Nike Junior Tour. Jaroslav Vondrasek dominated among boys. The player of I. CLTK Prague did not lose a set, he overplayed the first seeded Staubert 6:1,6:4 in the semifinals! The right-handed player lost only three games in the final encounter with Derkas. Vondrasek added another success, he passed through the doubles final on nationals U15. Nikola Tomanova from Slavia Orlova triumphed among girls. In doubles, pairing Rikl and Staubert among boys and duo Hrabalova with Kustkova gained the titles.

Pilsen defeated tenacious Znojmo to gain summer cup


Pilsen hockey team chalked up a highly-valued success before start of the season. The Indians toughed out Znojmo´s testing in the final and fought out the first victory in the summer Tipsport Cup in history. Both teams entered the match boldly. The young Stransky appeared in the first scoring chance, but he did not beat Horcicka in Znojmo´s goal. Afterwards the line Lammers-Kovar-Johnson ousted Znojmo under the pressure. The first named shot from near but outstanding Horcicka stopped the puck again. In a few minutes visiting Hradecky blew two shooting chances. Josh Langfeld did not follow through his backhanded fake a few minutes later. The first period ended by an imposing Riha´s shot to the crossbar. The home team started more actively the middle period but Moravians resisted. On the contrary, Znojmo had a big opportunity to break the deadlock. Znojmo outnumbered home team after a fast counter but Prikryl closed the door. The goaltender´s bout continued. Horcicka stopped Vlasak and Straka´s chances and the away squad opened the score. Tomas Hradecky tipped the puck into home team´s net. And after Vlasak and Straka´s misfires Pilseners had only twenty minutes to tie the game. Home players finally beat Horcicka in the last period. In the 42th minute emphatic Johnson got the equalizer. Six minutes later Martin Herman netted a go-ahead goal. The hosting team did not capitulate. A few minutes later Prikryl made an unbelievable stop against Beroun´s clear scoring chance. After it tireless Hradecky beat Prikryl but the post saved home team. Znojmo gathered its strenght and ousted the Indians under the pressure. Tomas Vrba got the empty netter a few seconds before the final horn. Pilsen started overtime on powerplay and it was the clutch. In the second minute of overtime captain Straka scored the game winner after Vlasak´s brilliant pass. Afterwards Pilsen´s celebration could begin. The home crowd applauded both teams. HC Pilsen 1929 gained the cup for the first time, Znojmo lost its third final match of four in cup´s history.

Viktoria got past Most in Ondrasovka Cup


Viktoria´s footballers are in a great form in this season. Pilsen team outscored toothless Most in its cup´s opening match 4:1 and went through to the next round. Most defeated Karlovy Vary in the first round, while Pilsen had bye as a major league team. Pilsen entered the clash vigorously and Bakos broke the deadlock after ten minutes of the game. Afterwards 1150 spectators watched two Rezek´s scoring opportunities. The leading scorer of Gambinus league hit the crossbar, in a few moments goalkeeper Palecek made a great save. But Pilsen increased its lead presently. After a scrummage in home penalty area Tomas Rada beat the goalkeeper. And that was not all. Pilsen increased the spread after Bakos brilliant shot. The shocked home footballers gave up another goal soon. At first Rezek hit the post for the second time in the clash, but Slovak Bakos netted the fourth Viktoria´s goal and completed his hattrick! "In the first half, we confirmed our position of the favourite," declared coach Vrba. In the second half, Viktoria was holding its lead and the pace was slackening. In the 85th minute Danoski caged a face-saving goal. Viktoria, the defending champion of the cup, started vigorously its way to the success.

A new offensive ace is coming up to Pilsen!


An 33-year old Josh Langfeld is another offensive ace in Pilsen team. An experienced Langfeld signed up a one-year contract. Josh Langfeld should play in the first unit side by side with Vlasak and Straka. "Josh arrived from Detroit and now he is training with the team," declerad Milan Tichy, the sports director of the club. The American forward used to play for Ottawa, San Jose, Boston, Detroit a Nashville in the most prestigious league in the world, in NHL. The last two seasons he played for German Frankurt. An ambitious Pilsen team is thinking of the top of the league table. "We have a better team than last year so there is a hope," enounced Martin Straka, playing general manager and the captain of the squad. "Josh is probably the last novice in the team," added Tichy. Other forward, go-ahead Petr Obdrzalek also will play in Pilsen team in this season. On the other hand, after Hvila with Tvrdik, Jaroslav Kracik has to look for a new contract.

Pilsen Indians triumphed in Germany


Pilsen hockey team succeeded in German Weiswasser and won a tournament of three teams. Indians overclassed a local minor league squad 9:2 and the day after the match beat Polish national team 3:2. The home team outfaced Pilsen only in the fist period, then Czech team hammered its opponent. In the seventh minute Martin Herman opened the score but Forgie squared the score after a Canadian cooperation with Rory. Yet Pilsen won the first period thanks to Dvorak´s hit. Grosh tied the game for the last time, but Pilsen gained a lead after Johnson´s goal. After passing 27 seconds veteran Vostrak increased the lead. Vlasak chalked up the jubilee fifth goal of hosting team. 71 seconds passed in the last period and go-ahead Kovar beat goaltender McDonald again and two minutes later Dvorak recorded another goal. In a few moments agile Jan Kovar got on the scoresheet for the second time. Rookie Pavel Sedlacek chalked up his first goal among adults and crowned the exhibition of Pilsen team. The next day Pilsen fought a duel against Poland. The most important moments occured in the middle period. Firstly an emphatic back Frolo was sent to the penalty box for boarding (2 minutes + 10 minutes misconduct penalty). Poland team did not use the powerplay but Rzeszutko broke a tie in time 25:54. In the 33th minute an experienced forward Vostrak scored on powerplay. Afterwards Petr Obdrzalek beat the goalkeeper after Straka and Modry´s passes. In the same minute rookie Lev hit a go-ahead goal. Polish team did not capitulate and Laszkiewicz kept Polish team in play. However, Pilsen held its lead and chalked up the second victory in Weiswasser. On friday Pilsen will challenge Znojmo in Tipsport Cup final.

Pilsen "B" team suffered an unfortunate loss


Pilsen team was playing an unfortunate game in the fifth round of the minor league. Pilseners have not won so far and they did not succeed even in Ovcary. Pilsen squad suffered a loss although netted three goals. Two of them were own goals. Slumping Pilsen farm could count on Strihavka, Zurek and Sevinsky from "A" team. And third named Sevinsky was the unfortunate figure of the clash. In the first half Vitous and Broz´s shots are worth mentioning. In the opening of the second half talented Darida broke the deadlock. After an hour of the game Vitous blew a chance for the second goal. Afterwards two unlucky Sevinsky´s moments happened. His two own goals meant that slumping Pilsen farm team lost the game. "It is an incredible bad luck. Sevinsky belonged to the best players on the pitch. Sadly, even that can happen," declared coach of Pilsen Jiri Skala.

Kladno succeeded in Pilsen in final repeat


The first round of the jubilee 20th Czech top hockeyball league has begun. The repeat of the last season´s final was watched by fans in Plzen-Kosutka. Pilseners won five from six summer friendly matches, they suffered a loss only against Oberwil Rebells. Kladno does not belong to Pilsen´s favourite opponents. After all, Pilseners outrivaled Alpiq Kladno only in four cases from last twelve games. Both squads will miss several clutch players. “We will travel to Pilsen with new players Wrobel and Stepanik. On the other hand, Kopecky, Sykora, Trcka and Tyburec will not play for us,“ claimed Drahomir Kadlec, the coach of the defending Czech champion before the clash. Big changes have begun also in last year´s runner-up. Rookie Petr Mikl will guard the goal instead of experienced Sulan. The team left Pospisil, Stulc, Komanec and Rousal as well. On the other side, go-ahead rookies Michal Prucha, Lukas Hofmeister a Petr Gronka and Ondrej Krpal form farm team will be playing for Pilsen squad. The beginning of the bout was not too attractive but Kladno managed to build a two-goal lead in the first period. Martin Stahl chalked up his first goal in the league. The clock was showing 9:20. Pilseners had a few scoring chances, but they conceded a second goal. David Rejthar scored from a rebound shot. Pilsen declined opponent´s lead on a powerplay. Michal Edl scored during the traffic in front of the net. Then goaltender Mikl made brilliant saves against Honicky and Prihoda. But Martin Nedved fired a shot past Mikl from the blue line. The end of the game was very emotional. At first, Adam Vagner cut the rival´s lead by one goal. In an absolute end of the clash home Marian Juracek attacked Daniel Hnizdil and was expelled. “It is very difficult to play without clutch players. Prucha, Hofmeister played well but he cannot replace players who have been playing the top competition for a long time,“ was disappointed coach Kurfürst.

Doubravka succumbed to Sokolov


Senco Doubravka, a team playing the division, lost in the second round of the Ondrasovka Cup. Sokolov playing the second Czech league drubbed Senco Doubravka 3:0 and will play probably against Sparta Prague in the next round. Home team could not count on injured stopper Novak. Doubravka did not play a poor game. Home forward Simr missed the cage in the first half. Sokolov struck after half an hour. Podrazky was all alone and nervelessly opened the score. Two minutes later the same footballer beat the goalkeeper again. Fifteen minutes before the full time a substituting player Javorsky got on the scoresheet and closed down the score. "We created four scoring chances in the first half and we scored two goals. We wanted to challenge Sparta which we managed," satisfied coach of Sokolov Stanislav Purkart claimed.

Pech maintained a chance on Barum rally


Vaclav Pech and Petr Uhel, the crew of EuroOil team, fought out sixth position on Barum rally in Zlin and ended on second place in nationals. Barum Czech rally is the part of both European Championship and IRC Intercontinental Rallye Challenge. There were record-breaking 27 cars in S2000 class. Pech and Uhel settled on the sixth place after the first stage and were in the lead in nationals. Then Pilseners experienced a few of awkward moments. "We had a puncture," Pilsner racer said. Rally Pribram, the last race in the series, will decide a winner. The fans are looking forvard to the race. Valousek in Fabia S2000 or Pech in Mitshubishi? Only these two racers can gain the title. Pech won Pribram rally in the past four years.

Bolevec will continue in major league


Bolevec team will take part in major league although they ended last season in relegation zone. "Bohemians Prague 1905 canceled their registration in the league and we will take their place," explained Pravda, president of the club. A few changes happened in Pilsen-Bolevec team. The squad has a new coach who is Jan Sperta. Bolevec left a capped player Michal Krysl (to Munich) and Michal Dvorak. On the other hand, a longtime capped player Petr Bodnar is a new player in Bolevec. Pilsen team will face President Prague on Sunday.

Viktoria overclassed Chrast


Viktoria Pilsen invited a minor league team Spartak Chrast for a friendly match. Pilsen squad confirmed its form and role of the favourite and hammered Chrast 11:0. Pavel Vrba´s team tallied eight goals in the first half. Both Strihavka and Bakos netted four goals and Jiracek, Hruska and Rajtoral chalked up one goal.

Pilsen deservedly beat Trinec and will play the final


The winner of 2009/2010 regular season can gain another success. HC Pilsen 1929 overcame Ocelari Trinec 3:1 and will face Znojmo in the final. Pilsen team started the bout actively and Modry shot on goal already in the first minute. A few minutes later goalkeeper Hamerlik cought both Herman´s deflection and Dresler´s thunderbolt. Then Dvorak and Stransky ended a boring part of the game and home team played a powerplay. At the end of the period Hanzlik hit the post. After a scoreless period home crowd could cry out "goal" in the 27th minute. Dvorak won a face-off and passed Martin Herman who placed. Varada could get an equalizing goal soon but netminder Prikryl made a brilliant save. Then Canadian Lammers was on a clear and goalkeeper Hamerlik made a perfect glove save. In a few moments John Lammers wasted a penalty shot and Trinec tied the game on the powerplay. A traffic in front of the Prikryl´s net did not end by a goal but a few seconds later Bryan McGregor drew level of the clash. Pavel Vostrak could give back Pilsen´s lead but an outstanding Hamerlik did not concede a goal. The score changed on another powerplay. An ageless Martin Straka passed Tomas Vlasak and he scored from a rebound shot. In the 45th minute an agile Lammers cut a dash. He tallied a goal after an individual action. A few minutes before the final horn Hudec, Polansky, Dvorak and Frolo were expelled for fighting. Pilsen maintained its lead and deservedly advanced to the final. "Both teams wanted to go through but we overplayed our rival," was satisfied Jelinek´s assistent Milan Razym.

HC Pilsen 1929 will chalenge Trinec tonight


Pilsner hockey-players will clash Ocelari Trinec in CEZ Arena tonight. The game will start untraditionally at 5:05 pm. A winner of the match-up will face Znojmo in final match. Yesterday, Znojmo eliminated Mlada Boleslav in Metrostav Arena on penalty shots 2:1. Pilsen will challenge a team playing in sparkling form. Trinec have been playing 15 bouts in summer and only three lost, during which time they won tournaments in Poland and Slovakia. Outstanding players such as Varada, Bonk, Cartelli, Hudec, Kohn or Duba are wearing opponent´s jersey. And Martin Adamsky, of course. Erstwhile player of Pilsen squad left the team before this season after nine long years. Both teams have a few players they can not play tonight. Benak, Jerabek and Ruzicka in home team and Lefebvre, Peterek, Kveton and Kveton on rival´s side. A winner of the summer tournament will gain 500 thousand crowns, a finalist 300 thousand.
