Pilsen lost in Prague during 110th Slavia anniversary


Pilsen hockey team fought out a valuable point for the league table. Nowadays, the regular season is coming to the end so every point is highly important. The Indians still hold the 9th place thanks to Brno and Karlovy Vary defeats.

The game had a celebratory odour – Slavia Prague was celebrating 110th anniversary so the both team were playing dressed in the old jerseys.

The celebratory opening of the game helped the home team. Petr Jelinek broke the deadlock just 39 second after the face-off but the Indians tied the game early. Tomas Vlasak scored from a rebound.

Pilsen put Slavia under the pressure in the middle period but Kopriva closed the door.

After a goalless period an ephatic defender Vasicek frozen the visiting team. Just for a while. The veteran Vostrak fired a shot past Kopriva and the score was 2-2. Presently, Praguers were in lead again. Then Jelinek could seal the victory but excellent Horcicka stopped his shootout.

And the Indians tied the game. The top scorer of Tipsport extraliga Vlasak scored by his second goal on the night and it was the 26th goal overall. The match gradated. 7771 spectators made an electrifying atmosphere.

The bout ended up in shootout where Tomas Svoboda netted the winning goal.

Today, the Indians will challenge the slumping Vagnerplast Kladno in CEZ Arena. Traditionally, the game starts at 17.30 pm.
