Pilsen prevailed Sparta to manage the 10th position


Fantastic work! Pilsen hockey team defeated Sparta Prague on Tuesday night to skip Benzina Litvinov in the league table. The Indians reduce Litvinov´s lead to manage 10th place in the standing for the first time after loosing nineteen points in November.

Hats off to the Indians. Pilseners needed twenty one games to cut 14-point deficit. Yesterday, Pilsen handled an important battle against Sparta 2-0 thanks to Duda´s goals. The home team was leading after 80 second after the face-off. Radek Duda circled the net and beat the goaltender Pöpperle.

Afterwards, Martin Herman fouled rookie Lunak and was sent off the ice. But Sparta did not create no scoring opportunities as well as during the whole game. In the 19th minute nearly eight thousands people watched two big chances of Pilsen team. The defender Modry hit the post, but a few seconds later the Indians scored. After Dvorak´s action Duda netted the second goal and CEZ Arena exploded.

The player with no. 69 could complete hattrick but Pöpperle stopped his breakaway. The other home hero, goaltender Horcicka, maintained the second shut-out in the 8th game in Pilsen jersey. In the end of the game Sparta locked the home team but without a goal-effect.

The situation around the 10th position heats up. Pilsen has a one-point lead on the 10th positon, Benzina Litvinov dropps from the play-off zone for the first time from November. Kometa Brno and Karlovy Vary will have to fight about play-off too.
